True Giving

While we were at a girls’ school in Kitale sharing the Word on a Sunday morning, it really touched my heart to see these girls taking up an offering. I don’t know what it was for, or who will spend it, but it was a touching sight. Most high school students in Kenya don’t hardly have enough money to afford their books and uniforms, never the less these girls gave what little coins they had. The red bag pictured to the right is full of their loose pocket change.

Mark 12:43-44 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

I find myself asking, how often have I given like that? Usually my gift is out of abundance–when  having faith in God’s provision isn’t much of an issue.

Wow. I don’t get in to read your posts often enough but when I do, I always leave with something to think about. Giving out of abundance vs giving out of poverty. Thank you.
