The Imortant Topic of Fearing God

20150318_153354 copyI had quite an interesting afternoon today. One of my friends agreed to teach music to a local group of young 18 year olds, if–and only if–they agreed to let him share his faith and teach them from the Bible as long as classes continued. Some are Christians, some are Muslims, but the majority are just in the world and don’t quite know what they are. I went with him to help this week because he needed a lady to talk t the young ladies about relationships.

When I asked the ladies about what they look for in a young man, they all had a very long list of many different things, but each and every one of them had two similar qualification: God fearing and can provide for a family. Unfortunately, I don’t think even the ladies  understood what “God fearing” meant, so it led to a very good discussion about “God fearing.” Many of the young men had conviction written all over their faces as I read Matthew 7:21-23 to them: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” I then asked each one of the guys individually if they had lived up to the two requirements, and all except one had fallen short. My friend then encouraged them that they needed to be born again and not just church goers. I look forward to hearing how things progress in the coming weeks. A lot of them seem convicted, but are not quite to the point of commitment.
