Playing with Orphans

Once again, I find myself amazed with the ingenuity of a child. I spent a weekend with an organization called PureLove.  They went to these children to provide them with food for the next month and to play with them. However, I think they provided us with more entertainment then we did them!

Pictured to the left is a game that these children had constructed. The game board is sculpted out of the dirt and represents a soccer field. They use a marble as the ball and try to shoot the ball into the other players goal–which is constructed out of twigs.

Below are some other pictures of these children. If anything, this weekend has given me an appreciation for all the provisions the children at Mattaw have.

Kids are ingenious. They’ll always figure out something to play with. Its only as adults that we decide we don’t know how to do something. I tried to look up PureLove but couldn’t sort out all the websites and find out about this orphanage. I’m encouraged to hear that so many different organizations are trying to help the orphans.

That is good to hear. I don’t know if they have a website, but if I find one I will send it to you.

When I see things like this, it amazes me how much money Americans spend buying their children toys. Especially because those children claim they can’t live without them.
