Home Fellowship

I may have falsely claimed Sundays as my favorite day of the week in my last blog post. I think Monday may very well tie with Sunday.

I have been hosting a home fellowship in my house every Monday. We have a time of worship, systematic Bible study, prayer for each other, and then a big meal. We start at 6:00 pm and sometimes don’t end till 11:00. But that is what happens when you finally find yourself studying the word of God with a group of young believers who really take their faith seriously! It is hard for the evening to come to an end.

I may sound crazy, but when I first came back to Africa I prayed over everything in my small house. I prayed that it would be a blessing and a place of refuge, counselling, and encouragement to others. Then God laid a home fellowship on one of my friends hearts and I opened up my house to the idea. I have seen every prayer I prayed answered.

We are in the book of Hebrews. We study one chapter a week and just finished Hebrews 11. Half of those attending have some sort of degree in ministry, so I have learned a lot about Hebrews by just listening to their conversations. The other half are skilled musicians who have really blessed our worship.

The reason why I bring this up is because I want to challenge you. Pray over opening your homes once a week to a bible study group. If God calls you to do it, think about inviting your christian friends who attend different churches (people you don’t  see on Sunday) to your home group. Then, sing, pray, study, and eat together. You will be amazed at the relationships you will build and the answered prayer that will take place. My group has now reached the stage where we are actually praying over outreaches, evangelism, and going on retreats together. But planning is different then doing, so pray that we go and do!

Wonderful to see you back in full swing again. You know how much I would like to be in your house right now! Fellowship, studying the Word and a place to grow together in Christ. (and that plate of your home cooked food is beautiful). As always, prayers, blessings and love,
