Time to Rest and Get Healthy

Sick Girl

Ok, so I have made it back to the USA. The director of Mattaw was kind enough to accompany me home just in case I was too sick to make it through both flights. My parents, as you can see, are taking good care of me, and I should be back to Africa sometime within the next few months–depending on my health.

I had a nice  dose of culture shock coming home. Everything seems too clean, and there are too many choices as to what to eat, what to watch, what book to read! I find myself staring at people because they are white and because their cloths just look weird to me. I might also mention the car trip home from the airport was very odd. People drive too fast and I feel like we should be on the left side of the road. All in All, It is funny to think how quickly Africa has become my home.

I was six when we were transferred to GA, I didn’t like coming back from Taiwan and told everyone I was Taiwanese. I wanted to go back so much. I wish you the speediest of recoveries so that you may be able to go back hale and hearty and ready to help your wonderful friends at Mattaw

So glad to see that you made it home and are on the mend. Like you said the culture shock must be pretty wild. Can you imagine the culture shock one of the kids from Mattaw would have coming over here? I’m sure it would take them a long time to get used to it. Wishing you all the best Elizabeth, get well soon.
